build4good, an initiative of New America, is a paid mentorship program that matches post-secondary students who are majoring in computer science, integrated digital media, UI/UX design, or other technology-related fields to mission-driven nonprofit organizations with technology-specific project needs. This mostly remote summer internship program aims to inspire a network of future leaders to develop socially minded technology, discover public service-oriented careers, and help nonprofits harness the power of technology for social good.
We build strong visual identities and lead project development.
We develop accessible and responsive websites and software.
We help visualize complex issues and gather invaluable data for communities in need.
Providing opportunities for higher ed students interested in gaining skills with organizations committed to mentoring and inspiring future leaders
Bringing together early career technologists and organizations to build for social good.
Connecting organizations interested in harnessing the power of technology with students who have the technical skills to solve and innovate with impact.
Students complete an online application during the Spring semester.
We will then invite you for an interview with our team. If your experiences and interests are a match for the program, we will invite you for an interview with potential nonprofits.
If a nonprofit selects you, they will extend you an offer and we will begin discussing your project for the summer!
